Preparing for your Alaskan Fishing Adventure
Package price does not include ground transportation. You are responsible for ground transportation while in Soldotna. Rental cars are available at the airports in Kenai or Anchorage, which is a 150-mile drive to Soldotna on a beautiful highway.

Soldotna has all the things a big city can offer: grocery stores, restaurants of all kinds including fast foods, and sporting goods & fishing tackle shops for those wanting to do their own fishing. After a days fishing is over, Alaska's nightlife abounds for those with endless energy.

Weather can differ a good bit, so bring clothes that you can layer... warm cloths ( layering is the best), rain gear, rubber boots, or water proof boots, hat or stocking cap & gloves depending on time of the year. Early to mid May is still cold in the mornings, but on the water it is always about 10 degrees cooler, even in the middle of the Summer, so if it's 60 on shore it might only be 50 on the water. And if the wind is blowing it is even colder.

Bring sunscreen & sunglasses

Sea sick pills. "Marizine" is the best I have found and it really works and you don't need a prescription for it. Should take the night before & again in the morning.

Hints on getting the days & tides you want is to book early. Same with the lodging. For July you have to book early.

Bring cameras or video cameras - you won't want to miss a thing!

Don't forget your prescription medicines if you have them.

If you're looking to catch Alaskan King Salmon and Alaskan Halibut both on the same day, then May 1 thru June 10 is you're best bet. This is a good time for the die-hard fisherman - 2 species. This makes for a full day on the water.

The halibut start migrating into the Cook Inlet in May, which means June, July, August and September are all excellent months to try you're hand at landing one of these Big Boys.

You must have a valid Alaska sport fishing license (available locally)
